Old-Fashioned Lemon Blueberry Muffins
A Classic Appalachian Mountain Recipe
Few things smell better than warm muffins baking in the oven early in the morning. In the Appalachian Mountains, simple baked goods like blueberry muffins were a staple in many homes. Families relied on seasonal ingredients, fresh dairy, and recipes passed down through generations.
Blueberries grow wild throughout the Appalachian region, and adding fresh lemon zest was a traditional way to brighten the flavor of baked goods. The result is a muffin that is soft, slightly sweet, and bursting with fresh berries.
Our Lemon & Blueberry Muffins candle was inspired by this classic mountain recipe. The fragrance captures the smell of warm batter, sweet blueberries, and bright lemon zest fresh from the oven.
If you want to experience the real thing, here is a traditional Appalachian-style lemon blueberry muffin recipe you can make at home.
